Misconception or exception?

And so, the bickering in Iraq, fight in Afghanistan, the dispute in Israel leads to one core question; Why does everyone hate the Americans so much?

First of all, the Taliban have different opinions compared with us. They have a different religion, their aspect to history is different, and of course, we live in different areas of the world. However, before I go into details, I talked to a Muslim friend of mine in school; he said that the Taliban have a screwed interpretation of their Kuran, obviously more violent and harsher from the original interpretation. The Taliban control most of Afghanistan, providing resources to Al Qaeda. It is thought that Al Qaeda, responsible for 9/11 and other terrorist attacks, is in the tribal areas of eastern Afghanistan.

A New Yorks Times reporter, David Rohde, was planning an interview with an Afghanistan official with two other middle-easterners, named Asad and Tahir. The three of them were captured, and David Rohde wrote a five page summary here. In the middle of his summary, he included this something about our men raping their women and how we are converting all the Muslims in America to Christians. I'm pretty their are some things untold here, but we can see that not everybody's informed correctly. If you read "A Thousand Splendid Suns," or anything of the sort, you would notice a culture difference.

So would this dispute of ideas between the Muslims and us be a total misconception? Or would this be a clear cut "correct" side? Of course, we need to be a little bit less cocky from time to time and sincerely respect the people that don't necessarily respect you.
